K'gari Daydream Cruise
This cruise is ticketed so you can have the charter experience for a fraction of the cost. Cruise through the Great Sandy Straits and Platypus Bay to the western beaches of K'Gari. Once we have dropped anchor near a pristine beach, lunch will be served. Choose to swim in our pool or the sea, stroll on K'Gari or relax on the beach or boat before returning to the marina at about 3:30pm.

K'gari Twilight: Sunset & Stars
Departing Urangan Marina 1/2 hour before sunset, witness the beautiful over water sunset close to the beaches of K'gari, and the towering pink and red dunes in the setting sun.
We anchor at a suitable spot close to a beach and then watch as the planets and then stars slowly appear overhead. With no light pollution, they are incredibly bright and stunning to see.

Under new ownership from January 2024, Freedom Whale Watch continues an uninterrupted, proud 15-year history of amazing whale watching and eco-tourism experiences in the Great Sandy Straits and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Every year, we’ve cruised safely along the beautiful West coast of K’gari (pronounced Garri, with a silent K) in the gentle waters of Hervey Bay, enabling 10’s of 1000’s of guests to experience close encounters with the mighty humpback whales. Here, whale mothers nurse their newborn babies and prepare them for the arduous journey back to the wild and cold feeding grounds of the Southern Ocean.
Hervey Bay is the first and most easily accessible Whale Heritage site in Australia, and one of the very few whale watching sites in the world where it is possible to enjoy close encounters with Humpbacks: The whales ‘Mug’ Freedom by surrounding us and stopping us from moving away while they check us out, these encounters have lasted 1-2 hours! Not all whales are confident enough to approach so we watch them from the allowed distance ensuring we do not frighten them and then, perhaps, they will approach us confidently in future years!
